Tax & practitioner education

His current emphasis is helping practitioners move beyond simply preparing a technically correct return toward recognizing the planning questions already present in the taxpayer’s facts.

QuickBooks & accounting systems training

Owen began working with QuickBooks 1.0 for DOS in 1992. His later work included QuickBooks beta testing, teaching classes to franchise operators, training users on accounting and business software, and integrating bookkeeping and payroll into tax practice.

Mentoring & practitioner development

His work with Justin Romo, Tom Fernett, and the entire team at Arnoff & Romo Tax Preparation and Wealth Management includes professional judgment, client communication, issue recognition, documentation, workflow, practice continuity and specialist escalation.

Additional public speaking experience

Owen’s speaking experience extends well beyond tax and professional education. Over many years, he has delivered hundreds of 30- to 45-minute talks before audiences of up to approximately 200 people. Since 2007, he has also delivered numerous 10- to 30-minute presentations before audiences ranging from approximately 1,000 to as many as 10,000 people.

That experience has required the ability to organize complex material clearly, communicate effectively within defined time constraints, adapt to audiences of very different sizes, and maintain audience attention.

Whether the audience is a room of tax practitioners, a firm team, or several thousand people, the objective is the same: organize the material clearly, identify what matters, and leave the audience with something useful they can understand and apply.
